Yesterday I mentioned that I am a full-time caregiver for my father. I started my diet the day he went to the hospital which was 17 days ago. He will be coming home this week, and my biggest challenge will be staying focused. I need a mantra.

Eat to live, don't live to eat. Is one I repeat to myself often. Also, I keep telling myself that the flavor or cake, cookies, or ice cream do not stay on the palate a minute longer than celery, broccoli, or carrots. The fleeting pleasure of a high calorie food is not worth the lasting problem of getting the weight back off. Best of luck to you.

Caregiver role is a difficult one and it takes a special person to be in that role. You see first hand what illness/sickness can do taking care of your father, so let that be your motivation for taking care of yourself. No picnic being sick either. You are a wonderful daughter and a beautiful soul. Nice drop btw. You can do this.

Hey buddy! We can keep each others spirits up and motivate each other about fitness and care giving. The other day when I was feeling overburdened, I realized how lucky I am to have this time with my father...none of my siblings have these moments...whether I am soaking his foot and caring for a wound or bringing him healthy food to eat, I do it with joy. It is not always easy, but we can do this!
