Amazing things happen when you sleep.

I weighed in last night after my swim and saw the 1st of this weeks pounds had finally dropped off. This pound was a boomerang pound that had taken me back down to 16st2 after a weekend of cheating and ruining my fat burning potential.
I had begun to think that my weight loss was starting to stall and the weekend of reckless carbs and Gin certainly wouldn't have helped. People say that you need the right mindset to stick with your diet and I guess they are right. It also requires a little faith, patience and a broad appreciation of the factors that affect weight loss.
Most of you guys will agree that daily weigh in are counter productive but this is a story that flies in the face of that wisdom and here's why.

I'm a couple of months into a shift in lifestyle which has seen me switch to something like a keto diet with a daily target of 5% net carbs coupled with a return to swimming and cycling. I'm tracking my food intake and making use of fat secret to plan my macronutrients in advance of preparing meals. My plan is to see a scheduled 5lbs of weight loss per week for a while and then shift to a regime that will level me out at a sustainable 13st7.

I'm a fully paid member at a pool which is 3.7 miles from my home to which I cycle. Being a keen lifelong swimmer who enjoys the mind clearing/meditative benefits of slogging up and down the lanes. I find this easy to stick with once I first have established the habit.
I usually end up with 2 days in the week where life gets in the way of swimming so these serve as rest days and I hope this allows enough rest that overtraining doesn't get the chance to turn off my fat burning potential.

That sticky, boomerang pound was sort of negging me out and being a bit of an over-thinker I was starting to ask myself questions about over training, carb discipline, keto adaption and all the other rationales we apply as we diet. I had told myself to expect a frustrating dip in my weight loss success and wondered if this was it?

Getting good sleep has been a bit of a problem since going Keto. I appreciate that lots of your fat burning occurs during sleep as your body gets to work repairing muscles worked out during exercise.

I thought about the effects of sleep during my morning eblutions and decided to hop on the scales.
BOOM 16st dead.
Obviously this lifted my spirits and whilst I know that dip is still sure to come but at least I'm not in it right now.
