Ingredients
Directions
- Combine flour, spices and baking soda in small bowl.
- Lightly beat egg. In large bowl, stir together sugar, buttermilk, oil, applesauce, molasses and egg.
- Add flour mix to wet ingredients and stir well.
- Bake for 25 minutes at 350 °F (175 °C).
- Cut into 4x4 = 16 squares.

I used Splenda instead of sugar and milk instead of buttermilk. Turned out so tasty!! Will make again for sure.

Made this with whole wheat flour and substituted brown sugar for the molasses. It was more dense and bread-like than I would've liked. Flavor seemed a little off as well.
