This morning around 8:00 AM, I had a pork sausage and fried egg sandwich using an English muffin. I believe it was about 4 ounces and the total calorie intake was about 650 cal. I also had a glass of skim milk which probably adds about hundred calories and then around 2:15 PM I had a salad without any need it, and the calorie count for the vegetables including onions, green peppers, cucumber and tomato with no meat was probably a little under 60 cal. The ranch dressing however, probably added 250 to 300 cal as I probably used about an ounce and 1/2 to 2 ounces. I didn't have a beverage. I'm estimating my calorie intake so far today is a little under 1100 for a little over 1000. So far so good. I'm probably going to have something later like another salad, but I plan on it being something light and calories. I went to the gym today and had a pretty good workout with a little over 45 minutes of cardio and a few strength exercises. I think there was about five of them with at least three sets each. I don't know how many calories I burned, but I feel okay about my efforts today.

I know. If I'm not sure, I usually estimate the calories on the heavy side.
Nice to meet you and thanks

Maybe you do but studies show that people underestimate the amounts they eat by quite a bit. I think maybe some think a third by average. Just something to be aware of. I do not always measure but sometimes I bring out the scale to check that my eyeballing is good. Nice to meet you too. And good luck with your diet

It is always best to measure when starting out. Our eyes have been lied to when it comes to portions. Once you'd measured for a while it becomes easier to be accurate. Measuring spoons, cups and a good scale are priceless for knowing where your calorie count is.

The kithcen scale, measuring cups/spoons are used with every meal/bite I take because I'm committed to the journal here at FS. I'd say 95% of the nutritional data of pre-entered food here is accurate. The journal keeps me from guessing to I know exactly how much OR how little I eat. I like to be as close to my RDI as possible. When I'm near my final goal, most likely I will back off my journal a bit as I enter maintenance. Best of luck with your journey!
