Happy2Read's Journal, 30 Aug 08

Bah! I did bad yesterday . . . and it started out so well . . . It was and the wine. And the cheese bread. Well I guess that's what you get when you cook a romantic dinner for two. Well, time to get back on the bandwagon today!

Part of the problem, I think, is that I had to estimate so many of yesterday's calories. I had to do it today, too (We went out for Vietnamese food). I just hope I wasn't UNDER estimating . . . oh well, I can't painstakingly count EVERYTHING I eat. I mean I know you're supposed to, but I just don't have the patience. At the very least, I think years of reading the nutrition labels on packaged food has given me at least a decently good idea of what calories are in what foods.

Also, even if I don't know exactly what the calories are, I figure I can make healthier choices (chicken vs. beef, grilled vs. fried, etc), so that even if my estimates are off, I'm not completely wrecking my body.

Well, that's all for now. Happy Labor Day everyone!

I forgot what cooking a romantic dinner was like - good for you:) Looks like you're doing good with your 'blind' choices - keep it up! I know what you mean about the calorie counts - surprising me now&then - like a tortilla, I thought I was doing low cal. I remind myself each time I start to feel defeat, that progress is perfection - not being perfect. Today the chocolate on sale at Walgreens got me, 1 serving consumed.

Just think about all the progress you've made so far...the donut you threw out the other day! Not to throw out excuses, but it's a holiday weekend so you may not have complete control over your intake as you'd like. Thanks for the tip on cheese in salads! It does make sense now that i think about it.
