Most people would lose weight on 1200 calories intake. Try it, and if it's not working, then maybe you do need to reduce a little, or take more exercise - more exercise is better for you. Regarding toilet visits, some foods do contain more water, so it could be that?

The calories a person needs to lose weight varies widely - depends on gender, age, height, current weight and activity level...then how fast you are trying to lose. An ambitious but doable pace is to keep your daily calories about 500 less than what you burn off. I can recommend the calculator at www.iifym.com ("If It Fits Your Macros") - your "BMR", or basal metabolic rate, is the amount needed for a body to sustain itself (with no activity whatsoever) each day. Your "TDEE", which stands for total daily energy expenditure, is that basic rate PLUS the energy you use over the day - walking, working, running errands, whatever. For me, with current weight and height, 1200 is about perfect, and I try to burn 1700-1900 most days. My boyfriend is taller, and younger, and also because he's male, he would need to eat about 2000 to lose weight! So it's important to know "your" numbers which will help you achieve some confidence that it's correct. :) Hope this helps!
