Defying Gravity

Headed out to walk despite the lingering cough and congestion from last week. I was so discouraged but luckily our pup gets so excited when we go for walkies so I just went with it. I've been using this old iPod for music which used to be my daughters so it has all kinds of different music on it, in addition to mine. Every once in ahile (amidst all the teen drama/break up songs, moody boy singers and Katy Perry) something comes on that really is just what I need at the right time. I was walking up this enormous hill in our neighborhood and the song from Wicked "Defying Gravity" came on. At first, I was gloomily thinking negative self talk about how ironic the song was bc I definitely am defying gravity by attempting to transport my overweight self up this giant hill. But then, as the song progressed and I listened more to the lyrics I was suddenly TRANSFORMED! I played it over and over again and really felt strong! I took an extra long route home and just felt somehow lighter and more determined on this "highway to healthy" as my Health Coach calls it. Music is really so key to me I realize - so next up is a genius playlist with Defying Gravity.
