well this is my first journal entry. I am trying to figure out all that can be done with this site. I have been following south beach for 13 days and have lost 7 pounds. The last three days the scale has not moved and I sure hope it goes down tomorrow!! I will be starting into phase 2 soon.

this is just a suggestion, and definitely to each his own and all that jazz, but i usually like to weigh myself just once a week - that way, i get to see big results each time!

7 pounds in 13 days!!! That's great!! Keep it up! I just weigh in once per week too. My weight fluctuates too much from day to day and I think it averages itself out over a 1 week period. You can always try weighing in once per week and then if you'd rather weigh in daily you could go back to that.

try using the diet and exercise calendar so you can see how many calories you are eating and burning. i have read that you have to burn 3500 calories a week to lose 1 pound (obviously you lose more during phase I). sometimes i go in and play around with the diet calendar before dinner just to see how many calories, carbs, and fats a certain food has before i decide my meal. congratulations on your 7 pound loss. keep up the good work!

Karen, You're doing just fine! I just finished 1 week on phase one, and was so excited to see my weight drop to down 7 pounds after 5 days. This morning I am only down 4, so I'm thinking I should stop weighing in every day. I think I'm seeing the natural fluctuation this way, and it can be discouraging. I'm going to pick a day of the week as "weigh in " day. Maybe Friday, so it's not right after the weekend. Good luck!
