i have a notoriously inaccurate scale as well! do you keep yours in the exact same spot? i find it stays pretty accurate (as accurate as it can be- who knows what the real number should be, lol) if i keep it on a flat stable surface and don't move it. we're all carpet here, and let me tell you, carpet plays a HUGE role in how they work!
