I had no time last week to journal nor to weigh in. I was out of town, in the mountains, skiing and hiking in Yosemite. It must have been one of the top ten ski days I've had for the last 20 years or so. Loved it!
And I love this new relationship with food...so far it's been a lovely ride.
I've certainly had temptations...however, I began this journey not to abstain from anything tasty ever again, but to establish a "new normal," to restart my relationship with food as fuel (primarily)and not as a carnival ride. It will take a few years to get my mind into a "stone-cold groove" of habits, but so far it has been pure joy.
Finally, fruits and veggies never tasted so good, nor has a variety of them been so appealing. I guess that's what happens when you spend nine months having only liquids!

Absolutely the most stressful and difficult time of the year (work wise) for me! The days and nights have been very, very long! I've managed to maintain eating well, but I've had to be flexible on a variety of things.
Also, turned another year older last week! I'm very thankful to not only be above ground, but half the man I used to be.
On ward, up ward!

Thirteen pounds away from my goal...wow! With the exception of feeling the cold a whole lot more, I feel great (and I used to think I felt great when I weighed a whole lot more!).
I'm into eating complete dinners this week: 3 oz of either chicken, fish, or turkey, a small green salad (a spritzer for dressing), 2/3 cup of brown rice or potato, veggies, and that is dinner! I never knew so little could be so filling! Love it!

Bam!Good-bye 200's! My goal is not too far off now!
I started into real food this week, replacing one of my shakes with three ounces of chicken. I never knew 3 ounces could be so filing (at my heavier weight that much chicken would have been a joke! Now, I find it work to finish that much)! I chew and chew and chew until the food is liquid (which gets old after a while). The point to all this chewing is to retrain myself to eat slowly, savor my food, and find satisfaction (both in the pleasure of eating and being satiated) early on.
Next week, I intend to pick up the work out routine and increase it slowly over the next few weeks. Joy, joy, joy!

Just about ready to crash through the 200 zone! Can't wait to kiss the 200's goodbye!
On Wednesday I'm going to add three ounces of chicken in place of one my shakes as a meal. That will go on for a week and then. A little more food (veggies) the following week. At the end of a month I'll be back into food and start my new cooking regime and well as my new work out regime.
In hindsight, this has been an incredible journey! The struggle, the difficulty, as well as the success, I wouldn't take any of it away. It has given a new perspective on food and eating and insight into my own old habits (which are still there just lying under the surface...but I'm aware now) that brought on such reckless living.
Finally, for those of you reading this journal, I bid you peace as you continue your own journey in weight loss. There's a lot out there to trip us all up, however, we can set ourselves up to succeed.
