Package label say 15g carbs per 5 pieces. 14-15 of that is sugar alcohols in the form of Isomalt. The whole idea of sugar alcohol is that it isn't absorbed by the body, so is subtracted from the carbs. So far, FatSecret's only way of doing this is by counting it as fiber, but doesn't on many foods, which leaves us with not putting it in the food log.
There are MANY folks on Atkins, but many who are watching their carbs because it is a healthy way to live. I'm hoping FatSecret will find a way to incorporate sugar alcohols in the nutritional breakdown of foods. They have minimal effect on blood sugar, which is of interest to those on ANY low-carb plan, especially diabetics...as well as those of us on Atkins.
