Yesterday was really bad. I was sore going into Mondays workout (from Saturday's workout, the first real workout I'd had in weeks), and my back was aching all day yesterday since I injured it Monday. I made a vow to myself, though that I would do yesterday's workout (even though I was so incredibly sore I could barely move), and I did it! I wasn't able to do everything to my full energy level, but I still worked for an hour, and I'm proud of myself!

After working out, I basically just put a heating pad on my back all last evening, and, so far today, it's feeling better. I'm really going to take it easy with insanity today, since I don't want to injure myself again, but I'm hoping that my back was hurting because I was just using muscles I haven't used in a long time. Similarly, I'm hoping they'll be strengthened and I won't have back pain anymore! Besides my back, though, the soreness has gone down a bit in some places and up a bit in others. I have really muscular calves naturally, and they are killing me today. All of the jumping around has really exercised them, but they're pretty tight today, so I'm going to watch them and make sure I don't charlie horse or something.

Other than that, though, I'm also feeling more in control of my diet today. Yesterday I was just ravenous the whole day, and ended up eating a really big, not-so-good-for-you dinner of fried stuff and had pretty bad heart burn. Nevertheless, today I feel more in control of what I'm eating, so I'm hoping I can keep up the control and have a good day today!

Hooooly cow am I sore. Mostly, I'm sore in a good way, but my lower back really started hurting during Insanity yesterday, and it's still aching today. I have a really long torso, so when we kept having to bend over during insanity, it started to pull on those muscles. I'm going to buy a back brace though today to make sure I don't injure myself and so that I can keep doing the workouts! My eating hasn't been great, but it hasn't been deplorable either. I had a large breakfast (I woke up STARVING), but I have only had one other small meal up until now. I'm going to work out in a couple of hours (YAY KENPO X!!), and then I'm going to just try to get in all of the calories I need by the end of the day (the calories coming from good stuff, of course!). I'm thinking whole grains and maybe baked salmon? Whatever I make, I'm sure it will be good!

Hello everyone! It's been a while since I wrote a journal article, and part of the reason is that I've been off slacking off and gaining back some weight over the summer. Last week was my first week of classes, and my friend and I are starting up doing a modified version of Insanity that combines P90X and Insanity workouts. The last time we tried it, Insanity was simply too hard on our bodies, but this time, we'll incorporate our favorite P90X workouts into our schedule (which are still hard cardio workouts!) so that hopefully we won't crash and burn!

Also, we agreed that we wouldn't take the fit tests this time around, since they tended to make me psych myself out (like I'd go into it thinking "if I don't improve, I'm a failure", and then I would look at the last fit test's numbers and say 'how the heck did I do that many last time??') Basically, I dreaded the fit tests, and since I'm not really doing Insanity to become a better athlete, but rather to become healthier, I think there are better ways for me to measure my progress, like body measurements, and how I feel when doing the workout in general (like if I can push myself harder or don't poop out as fast).

Similarly, I'm trying to get my diet back in order, which is proving difficult, even with Shakeology to reduce my cravings. I imagine after a week of eating better, though, it will be easier!

Wow. I have seriously fallen off the horse. I weighed myself this morning and I'm almost 5 lbs heavier than I was when I started this site. And now, due to an unfortunate moment of weakness last night, my house is filled with leftover pizza. *face palm* I will just have to get through this pizza, but I have a plan to have eaten it all by tomorrow morning so that I can get back to eating healthy! I'm also going to give the zig-zag method of eating that I mentioned a couple of months ago a real shot. I'm going to try and plan my meals out so that I can better have my meats defrosted and can cook more often. I'm also considering doing bulk cooking again, because it helps me stay on track. I'm going to do some more Shakeology too, and I'm looking forward to getting myself back on track financially so that I can start ordering it again.

I'm doing Hip Hop Abs today, and I'm looking forward to being active. I'm pretty much by myself here as my roommates are out of town and a few of my other friends are also out of the area. I think it will give me an opportunity to focus on myself and try to get my head on straight!
