I went to my local authority late this afternoon with an idea of how to move forward past/through an emotional and effectivity hurdle. The person listened to what I had to say and set me on a path that encompassed my concerns and was also more in-line with my major goals.
I felt a great deal of relief about 30 minutes after I left the person's office. Emotionally I feel less strung-out, and this new path does not offer the internal conflict that my original plan was threatening.
Best off all - and I can't say for certain if the previous contributed to this directly - my blood glucose (BG) is much lower than I expected right now.
I woke up this morning with fairly high BG and I expected it to drop to the current level sometime tomorrow afternoon (my body is diabetic and I am eating for 4 hours every 2 days, and I just ate last night).
Overall, it has been just a lovely day :D

So, I started eating right as my eating window opened (4pm - 8pm). I didn't stay with the best food, though I did start with it, but neither did I fall into a full binge and eat beyond my chosen feeding window nor eat outside my 'moderate foods' list.
My blood glucose 1 hour after my feeding ended (5 hours after my first bite) was actually a bit lower than my reading just before I started eating. Since my food is keto/protein, this is reasonable and the major impact would probably be sometime in the middle of the night.
I did stuff my belly full. Not the best thing, but I do feel very satisfied with the meal.

Ok, the food fantasies and salivation are getting pretty heavy now.
I'm just over 1 hour from my expected feeding window but my BG is still higher than I'd like. Intellectually, I'd like to wait until tomorrow and try for a lower BG before eating, something closer to healthy. However, I normally only fast for 20 hours between meals and this was supposed to be a shift to 44 hours between meals...and my mind and now even my body are kind of straining at the leash right now.
So...I am planning a good keto meal to start, fish with good fat and maybe only salt and turmeric.
I'm telling my mind I have the option for something a bit less healthy toward the end of my eating window, but am hoping if I retain any hunger I will be able to achieve satisfaction with just more fish/fat.

It's now ~40 hrs since my last real meal. My body is not hungry, and actually feels a bit full, somehow. (I've been drinking a good amt of water, but wouldn't expect it to fill me up.)
Still, I'm starting to fantasize about nicely spiced and crispy food.
I'm hoping to hold out until my BG is at least normal before I eat in order to give my body the best chance of dealing with it without getting into dangerously high BG territory.
This sort of fantasizing has been the reason I binge sometimes. I'm hoping I can avoid that this time.

I did a search and found out that pre-sunrise BG rise is a normal and understood situation ("Dawn Phenomenon", stress hormones and BG increase, intended to ease waking and activity). It also seems to explain why eating a meal early in the day usually has worse BG effects than eating the same meal later in the day.
I'm now wondering what happens if I just stay up and don't go back to sleep.
