I woke up around 4 am, decided to test my blood glucose (BG) - it was moderate (not 'normal' but okay) and I was cheered up a bit. I went back to sleep and got up for the sunrise. I just tested again (7:40 am) and my BG was again relatively high.
It seems something happens in my body between 4 am and 7:30 am which spikes BG. It is really strange as even a meal (high protein) won't affect my BG to this extent at this speed. It might be worth spot-checking over a few nights to find out exactly when this happens.
I'm a bit cheered up by this 4 am reading - it means my body might not be in this over-elevated BG state the whole night.
Also, no problems with hunger or light-headedness yesterday; it was 24 hrs on water and basic supplements by 8 pm. I'm thinking it must be the ketogenic diet I've been on - my body might be fully adapted to burning fat (and there is a lot available to it) and not suffering from a perceived lack of sugar to burn.

Waking blood glucose (BG) was really high, after my eating far too much protein for dinner last night. I always feel a bit off at these times - a bit like a light hangover? (I stopped drinking a while ago.)
Right now, the hope of improving my bodily health over the next few days and coming back to relatively okay BG is keeping me positive.
My BG normally drops through my waking hours so I am also looking forward to that.
The real test will be waking BG tomorrow. I am really hoping to see something good there. Any improvement will be welcome, but a large improvement will be a nice incentive to stay on the eating plan.

Noting here that this is the easiest time for me to think about dieting - while I have a full belly after a meal. I'm also planning to sleep in a couple of hours so I expect my intention will seem good until I wake up...plus a couple of hours.
I have a strong expectation that I will start to fantasize about food and the pleasure it can give me fairly early into tomorrow... I am not sure how to deal with these fantasies. In the past this has led me to overeat during my feeding times.
I'm hoping that making these notes here will help me keep some perspective.

My blood glucose was high last night, after I'd been on just a ketogenic diet for a few days - no other methods. So, I decided that Intermitent Fasting (IF) combined with low-carb (ketogenic or otherwise) is absolutely necessary for me.
I held off on eating today until 20 hours since my last feeding had passed - no calories, but I did take some vitamins and supplements.
My eating this evening started off keto, but I went overboard on protein after my first serving. I have this tendency when coming off a fast, even a short one.
I'm thinking I might do best eating not everyday but every other day, maybe keeping to a 4-hour window on the eating day. I'm hoping this extra time fasting will allow my body to reach a lower baseline blood glucose, and maybe mitigate the effects of my over-eating protein on my eating days.
I am hoping to post tomorrow on how it is going...I'm expecting some hard psychological challenges - I take a lot of pleasure in eating and that pleasure covers up some of my anxieties. I'm hoping I can make it through the 44 hours of no eating.
It might actually be easier for me to do 1 long fast since it would be "one and done" and not a repeated discipline that I would need to apply daily. However, I think it would be best for me to start with this as a baseline and deal with whatever comes up before trying something longer.
