I remember once a therapist told me, "discipline is a gentle thing..." at first I didn't get it but for my personality it is apt. I've learned not to beat myself up over goals. I don't demand or make grand proclamations regarding a purpose. No, I now make a plan...a plan that I can actually do. I'm also a facts nerd, so FS helps me see the facts (fruits) of my journey. The scale does not lie. The truthful accounting of my caloric intake does not lie..the running out of holes in my belt tells the story. So, although I weigh each morning and sometimes the weight may increase a pound or 2, no worries, no beating myself up...I'm just working the plan...

There are about five key elements of life I’m focused on, but for some reason my thoughts are on fitness. As I wrote the word “fitness”, fit-ness. Anyway, I’m 63, spry, active, but damn I’ve never been 63 before. So I’m paying more attention to how fit I actually am. Hell you can be rail thin and totally unfit and you can be that big guy who is healthy as, well an ox (btw, I’m no expert on the health habits of oxen).
When the gyms reopened I returned the first day. Had no plan, just wanted to get out and work out! I could feel that cumulative effect of CoVid. Sluggish, felt like it was time to give birth, skin dull, eyes too. Three months is a good start. I’m working out 6 days a week...I take a break for the Lord’s day (and take a break) and then back at it. I will add more cardio, and work on variety in my workout.
So why am I writing this here? I think it’s simply to hold myself accountable. If anyone reads this I’m certain no one will race over to ensure compliance with the plan 🤣
I do have one secret goal..I have written about this before...I want...to be able...to do pull-ups...really....Even as a kid, but never could...and well you know...never got around to it.
I’ve knocked 100 lbs off the assisted machine...I’ve given myself a timeframe and a lot of grace 🙂

So, I'm near my goal weight. Actually I'm below it, but I usually keep a couple of pounds in reserve. Regardless, the question for me is now what? I started this journey at approximately 300lbs. Years ago a doctor told me my ideal weight for my 6'3" frame is 185?! I slid out the womb weighing more than that! 😅 Let's see what's next!

I arrive in my office early...its quiet at 5am. As we enter post-covid, I spend the hour or two alone just reflecting...on the day, folks I love, others i'm concerned about. Sometimes I also say hi to God (yeah). Its not just about food and activity to me
